MTG Precon Commander League

The time is finally here! We are starting our 1st Annual Magic Precon Commander League on Sunday, November 9th at 3pm. Season 1 will be an 8 week season consisting of one match per day. Everyone is welcome to participate and new players are encouraged as precons are a perfect way to get introduced into Magic the Gathering. The league will help introduce new players to the format and for everyone to learn and enjoy their decks on a somewhat level playing field.
An overview of the guidelines and rules for the league are as follows:
RESTRICTIONS
All precons are not created equal and therefore the are rules and stipulations to which ones are eligible for league.
The precons that are eligible for league include any precon commander decks from the last 3 years with the exception of:
  • Any “secret lair” precon,
  • “Virture and Valor” from Wilds of Eldraine,
  • “Eldrazi Incursion” from Modern Horizons III and
  • “World Shaper” from Edge of Eternities.

PRICE AND PRIZING
The price for entry will be $10.00 for each week you attend and you will receive a set/play booster pack each week you play. League members will also receive a 10% discount on precon commander decks to anyone buying a deck for the league as well as 10% on the packs that are bought to upgrade their precon decks between weeks. If you decide to enter the league, everyone will submit their deck/decklist to RetroEdge Games for approval before the start of the season. At the end of the 8 weeks season a winner will be announced and prizing will be distributed. The winner will receive a play/set booster box of their choice from RetroEdge Games valued at 200 dollars or less. Second and Third place will received a tournament legal commander precon from RetroEdge Games.

LEAGUE RULES
During league play, there will be 3 playable pods (12 players). The pod winner of the week is NOT allowed to alter their deck in any way. The other three players in the pod who lost that week are allowed to use your entry pack and up to two additional packs that can be purchased to alter 1 card from your precon deck. This can happen once a week for every week that you lose in a league pod. Also, once per SEASON a losing player can purchase a collector booster pack and alter one card from your deck with that pack instead. This is not in addition to your other card you already added that week. Therefore, if you bought a collector booster you would still only be able to add one card per week.

HOW TO SIGN UP
Come to RetroEdge games starting tomorrow Thursday, October 30th and pay a $10 dollar entry fee. This fee will count as your first week’s entry fee. The staff will sign you up for the event in the Magic Companion app (Magic companion app needed to play in the event.) Then you will just need to show up on Sunday the 9th at 2:45pm and you will be good to go.
